About the Speakers
Yolanda M. Davis, Cloudera
Yolanda is a Principal Software Engineer at Cloudera with nearly 24 years of experience providing end-to-end application and system solutions. She has a huge passion for data management and analytics which led to her current position within the Data In Motion R&D department. Yolanda is part of the open source community as a contributor and PMC member on the Apache NiFi project. She is also committed to education and public service as demonstrated in her volunteerism with local and national organizations including Black Girls Code, BDPA, the City of Atlanta, and Technologists of Color.
William Hill, New Relic
William is a senior software engineer at New Relic. He has worked as a full-stack engineer writing tools for subject matter experts in nonproliferation, climate science, solar energy, and basketball analytics. He has also worked as a proponent of increasing diversity in the computing field by recruiting and mentoring engineers from underrepresented groups.
Renee Reid, LinkedIn
Renee is a UX Researcher at LinkedIn. With over 20 years of professional experience including, Project Management, Sales, and Customer Success, she has contributed to my successful career as a Staff UX Design Researcher in Silicon Valley. Prior to joining the world’s largest professional networking site, Renee was a UX Researcher in Atlanta, GA, where she guest lectured at Georgia Tech’s highly acclaimed MS-HCI program and was also the founder & president of the Atlanta Chapter of User Experience Professionals Association (UXPA). A proud HBCU alumna from Savannah State University and graduate from the University of California, Irvine with a Masters in Human Computer Interaction and Design, she has also had the pleasure of judging Stanford’s d.School Design Thinking for User Experience Project Expo 2018 competition.
Afeez Bello, Microsoft
Afeez is a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft who is currently working on Minecraft: Education Edition to enable students to learn through gaming. He has experience working on a variety of products across various tech stacks. He’s also worked at all of the Big 3 gaming companies (Microsoft/Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo) on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and some tools for game developers. In his free time, he mentors and tutors students individually and through his YouTube channel, Fizzle The Engineer, and fuses gaming with singing/rapping on his other channel, Fizzle The Rap Gamer.
