Early Career Doctoral Student Academic Careers Workshop (EC-ACW)


Early Career Doctoral Students Academic Careers Workshop (EC-ACW) targets 2nd and 3rd year doctoral students with the goal of exposing the students to academic careers.

The goal of the workshop is to cover the following topics:

    • academic career ladder
    • importance of networking and collaborations
    • work-life balance
    • what is expected of faculty candidates
    • the art of technical storytelling
    • building one’s teaching portfolio

The workshop targets participants from the following communities in doctoral programs in computing at U.S. institutions: African Americans/Blacks, Native Americans/Indigenous People, Hispanics/Latinx, and People with Disabilities.

EC-ACW is organized by CMD-IT, in collaboration with AccessComputing and CAHSI.
